No. You do not need a referral from a GP to book ear wax removal at MicroClear Ears. You can book an appointment online directly, which makes it easier to get help quickly when your ears feel blocked.
Does MicroClear Ears bulk bill?
This is one of the most common questions we hear, so let us be upfront: MicroClear Ears does not bulk bill. Payment is due at the time of your appointment. For eligible patients, a Medicare rebate is then processed for you after payment — so while there is an out-of-pocket cost on the day, you may be able to claim part of it back through Medicare.
It also helps to understand the bigger picture. In general, ear wax removal carried out by a nurse rather than a GP is not something Medicare bulk bills. What can apply is a rebate on the consultation for eligible patients, and that is exactly how it works at MicroClear Ears.

Please bring and present your card on the day of your appointment so we can apply the discount. As with standard appointments, a Medicare rebate may also apply if you are eligible.

What about cancellations?
We ask for at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. A fee may apply for late cancellations or missed appointments — giving us notice means we can offer the spot to someone else who needs it.
